Thanks for getting back to me! I've heard that they are GREAT all around horses and very level headed, but they have a stubborn streak!! Colonel is from that line, and I'm just curious how much of that rings true for others or if they've noticed other behaviors!

My husbands mare C Bar Sis is two eyed jack breeding and she is an awesome cool horse. She likes to move out and get with the program but is a pretty solid trail horse for us. We have had her for about 12 years and I think she is a great all around horse.

Thanks for your thoughts on breeding and bloodlines everyone. He is doing really great so far and when I really gain his trust and confidence I think he will be a tremendous partner. He is a five year old and has not been handled a lot until recently. I'm not sure some of his experiences with people have been good so I will take everything pretty slow. I feel a little "long in the tooth" for a colt starter but we will see how he handles things until Spring with pleny of ground work and confidence building until then. Hope everyone is getting some great riding in! It sure felt like fall in the air tonight.

Hi,
I'm familiar with the Zippo Pine Bar lines, I have three horses from his bloodlines and wouldn't change them for the world. Very solid, level headed horses that can turn their mind to anything! I've had some broodmares with Sonny Dee Bar on their papers and they have all been calm, easy to deal with and nicely put together. Sounds to me like you got yourself a great deal in your gelding!
I have a black and white Gelding, called Joey (aka Dots Spots), he's out of Easy Jet, Peppy Paint Badger and some Winrock descendants. He is the calmest little horse I think I've ever had the pleasure to ride, not to mention confident and willing. If I could ever find another one like him there's no telling what price I'd pay :o)
Hope you are enjoying your new guy!

all those quater horses in the black gelding's pedigree that you have mentioned are great stallions and quite famous. In my opinion they produce beautiful babies and even have aweome grand and great-grand babies.

Hello,
I am new to the QH group on Horsenpony Friends and a new QH owner as of a few weeks ago. Recently we added a beautiful black QH gelding to our family of horses and I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on his breeding. He has a lot of old Three Bars in his background and the close up horses even I can recognize are Sonny Dee Bar, Zippo Pine Bar and The Investor. Does anyone have any thoughts on these horses or have owned horses sired by these stallions?

My family has own a couple of quarter horses already..my favorite was a 28 year old quarter horse named jack..He came from a ranch before he owned him..He did everything we asked..Plus he knew when someone had very little riding experience bcuz he would take advantage of it, and head home..it was soo funny...Everyone who ever rode him just fell in love with him..he was are most popular horse..I use to ride him the most, everytime me and my sisters went for a trail ride I got Jack, and i never minded bcuz he always kept up with the 2 other horses and galloped just as strong as they did...the sadest day for me was the day he coliced and had to be put down at the age of 34...

I choose a QH because that's what Cowboys ride! No, really to be serious, I was looking for a nice trail horse and a place that had QH's for sale wasn't too far away. My wife and I went to take a look. I fell in love with a pretty sorrel mare with four high sox and a big blaze. She wasn't for sale. We looked at a lot of others and I finally spotted my mare Sissy. She is the one in the picture for our QH group. We were looking for a nice older gelding that had been ridden alot but went home with a two year old mare that had been ridden twice. LOL. It worked out well though and I have been trail riding Sis ever since. She is a super nice mare and I think QH's are absolutely great!

I wound up with Quarter Horses by total accident. My brother brought me one that was old and in terrible shape and needed someone. Then I was given a second one that someone just wanted to have a good home and then we bought a third one that needed rescue. These are the most amazing animals that I have ever known, though, and I am grateful everyday the God saw fit to bring the QH into our lives.
