Lifelong love of horses. I have 3 horses - a 26 y/o Quarter gelding, a 20 y/o Arabian gelding, and an 8 y/o Half-Arab Pinto mare. Had many horses over the years and appreciate a good horse whatever the breed. My dream is to someday own an Andalusian, they're amazing creatures. I've met my best friends thru horses. I also take care of a small boarding stable of 2 Quarter horses, 2 Paint horses and 5 Paso Finos.

- Hey Dixie, The shaving of the manes and tails is more of what the spainards do, although there are people over there that do it its not everyones cup of tea. I personally think our mares look better without their manes and the tops of their tails shaved. We do have one mare that has a full length mane and tail but its a lot of work and she was allowed to grow it because we are selling her and people over here who don't know the tradiitions of the spanish horse can think it doesn't look right.
The spanairds do it as it is easier for them, if you think some studs have over a 500 herd of just mares it is easier if they have them all hogged - even though they are not actually hogged they are shaped to emphasise the shape of the mares necks. I'm not actually sure why they shave the tops of the tails - i'll have to find one of the articles in the mags which tells you .... hmmm i'll get back to you on that one. So it is an awful lot easier for them to be hogged.

Thanks. I wish I could take the credit for taking them. My friend's daughter, who is 17 years old, took these. She also has a bunch of wild life pictures that are incredible. I really think she has a talent.
