This is definitely one of my favourite horse experiences, but it is a bit of a long story! In 1996, my neighbour, who loves geriatric horses, asked me if I would keep a horse at my farm for the winter. This horse was being retired, and my neighbour wanted to “adopt” her, but she had to wait until spring to build a paddock for her. In your post response about favorite memories, you mentioned about selling stained glass. Do you have any pictures of your work? I am very interested to see them.
Great video and very good tips for those who have not "horse camped" before. In my earlier horse experience I camped and rode with friends a lot. Later I was very fortunate and discovered Endurance and Competitive riding. As Competitive Riding is a much slower paced event I learned to ride distance safely. I became MUCH more aware of my horses physical development and his health care from the information I devoured about training and riding long distances. To my chagrin, as I happened to be looking through some old photographs from our early camping years , I was able to see the tell tale signs of dehydration on my trail partner. Even in our racing years he had never been a good drinker. He had great heart but did not take very good care of himself at water and rest stops. I hadn't known about electrolytes and probiotics and ways that I could help him then. I was not guilty of neglect, but I was guilty of not being informed enough to ride as hard or as long as I had at the time. I hope your videos will help people prepare for a fun experience instead of a trip to the vets. Sharing knowledge is the best part of becoming a true horseman. Thanks!

Wow what cool video and pictures! I love your little chickadee picture. Can you tell me what kind of competition it is in the photos? It is so fascinating meeting people here on the website who are kindred spirits from all over the world. I hope to hear more about your training ideas and see more of your beautiful pictures.
Thank you for joining and welcome. I love your videos and the pictures you added and will enjoy hearing more about your clinics. I especially love the pictures with the fall colors as the background. :)
