Oh yes, the teachings of Abraham. I have a couple of his/her books. I've listened to many of the CD's. It all goes back to the power of thoughts. I believe that Esther and Jerry come to the Chicago area once a year. I have a friend who is a member...

Hi Dave, that's a pretty big move to go from New York to Alabama!! I'm sure you'll enjoy the extended riding season. I'm not much of a winter rider myself...I sure hate being cold. God luck in our move.

Cool clip, Gina. I know, that was last fall and now it's almost summer. Didn't know the clip was there. I don't seem to get on the site very often. Was good to meet you yesterday. Dixie has told me so much about you, it was almost like I already k...

Hey Peggy Sue,
This is part of the game of tag that we are playing on the website. So tag you are it! I would like you to tell about the time you had the squirrel fall out of the tree on you and Snide at our endurance ride. Post as a blog if you can so everyone can read it. Then go tag someone else with a question. Happy trails gal!

She is beautiful! What is her breeding? I had a mare that was Bask bred that looked like your horse in her younger days.

Hi Gina ... thank you! thank you! thank you for zooming that picture in. What a cool thing to do! She is a pretty girl, isn't she? I kind of like her and what's even better..she kind of likes me. How cool is that?
Yes, have ridden site "M". I'm about and hour and a half from there. In the past, we've gone down there in September or early October. It's nice they have electric and I can plug in the electric heater at night when we camp. It's right on the edge of how far we want to drive to do a day trip.
I think it was last summer when we rode Siloam last. Not a good place to go when it's wet. Those hills can get pretty nasty with a good horse let alone a young one. This mare of mine still has some saddle fit issues. The girth will make her sore at the elbows. She'll get large swellings, usually on both sides, that are more like fluid filled and egg sized. That comes with riding the endurance saddle with a western type girth. I know it's the hills that are adding to the problem because this doesn't happen on the flat ground. So, I'll need to 'try another saddle'. That's a whole new story!!
I'm glad to know you had a good ride over the weekend. I was thinking about EVERYONE out riding today since the weather was SO beautiful. I was inside ALL weekend at a personal development workshop that was the absolute best. I did miss my horse but it was a fantastic experience that I would have been sad to have missed.

I think the best you can do taking pictures. Is to take a few hundreds and then look for the best one.
That's usually how I get some good ones. I take them usually at a high resolution so I can crop down to get the picture I want.
Have you ever been riding at site "M"? I know it's a ways from you.
Nancy and I have talked about riding at Silom Springs.
I haven't been there in a long time either.
We went riding down along the Illinois river levy yesterday. The river is down several feet.
Levantine was the lead horse this time. We left the older experienced horse at home. We were short a rider and we both thought he could handle the job.
He stepped right up to the position. I was proud of him.
Then we got rained on. We were trying to hurry back to the barn, but, Tantris (the youngster) pooped out.
Today, we're going back to Hillview to ride again. Jenny is going today so well have all three horse today.
Well, I'd better get out of here.

Peggy, Hi! I just wanted to say you have a very beautiful Arabian mare. She reminds me of a horse that I use to have. Very pretty!

Oh Gina, you've not been keeping up with this thread...I'm not the computer whiz. I was doing good to get this one on here. I don't have any recent ones. The ones like the avatar are further away..my son takes wonderful pictures of rainbows, clouds and lightening stikes but not so good with horse pictures. I'll see what I can do though. I thought he'd be home by now but he must still be working over time.

Most Wonderful Horsie Day

Today was THE MOST WONDERFUL day that I've had with my horse in a while. Now, to bring everyone up to speed, this is my Goofy Girl who we are trying hard to rename to G.G. as after playing the Parelli games for so long, she's not as goofy as she used to be. I've been playing with her quite a bit recently as I've been unemployed since the last day of April. GG still has some issues with zone 3 but is showing improvements in leaps and bounds. As of yesterday she can now JUMP the log in my play pen… Continue

PJ and the Snapping Turtle

As promised, here is the story of my gray horse, Trusty Steed #2 aka PJ, and the snapping turtle. Many, many years ago when I still was using a tiny little red and white 2 horse bumper horse trailer, my wonderful endurance riding buddies, Ms Bec Lynn and Ms Jerry Lynn, had arranged to meet at the local park for an over night training weekend. It's Saturday noonish and I'm all loaded to go...except for Trusty Steed #2. (Son of Trusty Steed from the squirrel story from yesterday) So I make the wal… Continue

Do Squirrels Really Fall From Trees??

Okay, I've been tagged with the request to enlighten everyone on the dexterity of squirrels. To set the story up I have to give you some details. My dear friend and endurance riding buddy, RidenEndurance, Ms Bec Sue, and I made the decision to do our first 50 mile ride at Jubilee College State Park near Peoria, IL. We spent many miles riding together to condition our horses as well as many weekends camping together in preperation for this 'first 50 miler'. Those tough ponies of ours were no doub… Continue

Finally??? A good saddle fit???

I don't know about anybody else, but I've been fighting to get a good saddle fit on my old gelding for YEARS! I've tried different saddles, different pads, different placement of the saddle. I've tried shims in the front, in the middle and in the back. All of my efforts have not solved the problem. Just when I "think" I have the problem solved, I have dry spots the next time out.

Well, today was like having a totally different horse under me!! WOW! This is how he 'used' to be. My skito pad came… Continue
