Since I wrote last to this discussion I've received Altea, and more information on her breeding. Her registration papers say she is half Andalusian and one quarter Arabian, with the other quarter not named. No QH at all as far as I can tell. I'm...

Another congrats to you! Finding the baby in the mud reminds me of a mare that we had foal a number of years ago. She was in a nice foaling stall bedded deep with straw. She broke down the door latch on the outside "dutch door" to her paddock run....

Congrats on the new baby in your family! Sounds like you have been very busy. I will go take a look at Stanley's mom and dad. Bet they are gorgeous too!

The surprise!!

Well as promised I said I would write about the surprise that we had for us on the 21st December...
We came down like it was any other day. Sorted their feeds, hay and water and went to get them in. It was half past 6 at night and was dark already! being winter we were grateful of the lights in the yard- looking into getting some to light the 5 acre hay field! following our usual routine we brought in the stallion and his 'buddy' Wills first, then got Tia and Estrella. Went back for Fi and Rose… Continue

The outside addition!

Not long before Dulcinea was to leave for her new home and on the day Flora went to our friends for schooling and eventual sale, we travelled down to the C.R Andalusian stud to see Pete and Eileen the couple who owned it and we came back with Stanley. A 6 month old, Pure Black colt out of their stallion Donado and mare Murcia. Both parents are tested and are pure black - although Murcia looks bay!

Stanley was brought home and travelled beautifully - considering it was his first time in a traile… Continue

Too Long!

Well it's been far too long since I wrote on here let alone came on the site!! been having a very busy couple of months!!

Between the end of the show and Christmas we sold our yearling filly Dulcinea. She has gone to live with a lovely woman down in Dorset! A long way away!! She was fantastic when she left though, She was taken down there in a big horse box - not by us though Sue - her new owner, arranged her to be picked up. She had only been in a large horse box once before - to go to the sho… Continue

Nubarrons Class

Well as promised I said I'd write about 'His Nibs' class (nubarrons nickname - its much easier to say!).
Before the class started we were waiting in the collecting ring, we hadn't been told if there was any other warm up ring anywhere so we assumed we could warm up there. As soon as we had started we were told by one of the stewards that we couldn't warm up in there. We were told where the warm up ring was - a little to late! because as soon as we were told the class was ready to start. So we we… Continue

Back on track

Well now that we've finally got the internet and the computer working nicely together again I think I'll be posting a regular blog! We went to the BAPSH national championships at the begining of August. We took 6 - Estrella, Kantiana, Sharifa, Nena, Dulcinea and Nubarron. Dulcinea being the youngest was in the first class for yearlings. She was reasonably good considering it was her first show! She came 4th out of 6. Next was Nena in the 3 year old class, All horses over the age of 3 are require… Continue

I read your post about the shaving of manes and tails. I was curious also as here in the US I had not seen it done with the Andalusians I saw exhibited. I can sure imagine that the full manes and tails are a lot of work. Years back when I groomed for a large show barn of Arabians we would braid and wrap tails and also we braided manes as well. Hope you herd is happy and healthy and enjoying the cooler weather. Do you have about the same type of seasons as we do here? I love your foal pictures as playing with the babies and taking care of the mares is what I miss most about my barn job. All my babies are grown up now and I am not very good at selling anything. LOL

Hello Rebecca,
Thanks for adding the cool site webaddress www.prehorse.info so I could have a drool fest this morning. What fabulous horses. Makes me wish I had some import money besides the money to buy some gorgeous Andalusians. Guess I must content myself with looking and dreaming for now. Your pics are fabulous. Congratulations on a great breeding program.

Hi Rebecca,
So glad you're back. Caruso is adorable! Looks like he's growing fast! I was curious about the shaving of manes and tails. Is that something that is an Andalusian or european tradition, or what? I never see that done over here, so was just wondering. Looking forward to more pics of the herd!

Hi everyone!!
I know I haven't been on here in ages but my internet has been being completely useless!! We now finally have it up and workling properly! I am uploading the pictures I prmoised everyone ages ago! Once again sorry it took so long guys! Our newest member of our Andalusian herd was Caruso, a Chesnut/Bay colt born on the 15th June - Yea its taken that long to get our internet and computer working nicely together!! He was born on fathers day here in the UK which was quite fitting - Nubarron is his Sire and we bred him so we now have our very first 2nd generation foal!! I'll upload some more pics of everyone through the week so you can all see how they've grown!!
Chat to you all later!!

Hello Rebecca,
I enjoyed reading about your treats! Milkduds are a kind of candy that is a chocolate covered caramel. YA is for young adult novel and is a way that they catagorize books in America to seperate them from childrens books. Tamora Pierce series would be considered YA novels here. If you have time read my blog about Little Mans adventures. It is an idea I have for a childrens book series about the adventures of a miniature horse and is based on the life of my little mini I recently purchased. I love writing and really enjoyed thinking of things from the minis point of view.

I love reading Tamora Pierce too! I would love to write a YA series about horses someday. I am working on something now and hope to someday get published. I think the only thing I do more than spend time with the horses is read. I am NEVER without a book!
